State-Level Watershed Mahotsav 2025 Kicks Off in Kohima

In a pivotal initiative for India’s water security and sustainable rural development, Minister Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar launched the State-Level Watershed Mahotsav 2025 at Naga Solidarity Park, Kohima. This program aims to transform water-stressed regions into climate-resilient landscapes, emphasizing that water security equates to national security. The Mission Watershed ‘Punarutthan’ seeks to revive traditional water bodies, restore degraded lands, and promote sustainable livelihoods through community efforts. Highlighting Nagaland’s ecological and cultural heritage, the Minister noted the importance of watershed development in ensuring future prosperity. With 14 approved watershed projects under PMKSY and Rs 140 crore allocated, Nagaland is positioned as a key player in India’s growth narrative, supported by enhanced connectivity and infrastructure.
