The Nagaland Christian Forum urges the gathering to refrain from talking about “satanic worship”

The Nagaland Joint Christian Forum (NJCF) on Monday urged the Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer, not to raise the issue of ‘satanic worship’ in the House. In a formal appeal, the forum stressed that such discussions could misrepresent local culture and beliefs.

In a letter addressed to the Speaker, NJCF President N. Paphino described satanic worship as alien to Naga society. He highlighted that it is not an organized religion and is widely condemned across societies and faiths. “Any discussion in the Assembly could inadvertently give visibility to practices that are not part of our social or religious fabric,” Paphino wrote, cautioning against unnecessary attention to the issue.

The forum also pointed out that activities associated with evil, violence, or immorality are already discouraged under both civil law and spiritual teachings. Paphino emphasized that legislative focus on such matters was unnecessary, as existing legal and moral frameworks already address them.
