A tragic road accident near New Chümoukedima has claimed the lives of two college students and left two others critically injured. The mishap occurred when the vehicle carrying them went off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near the village bypass in Chümoukedima district. The deceased have been identified as AN Shohe and Zayesito Zeliang. The two injured students, Peter and C. Phom, are currently receiving intensive medical care at the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (Referral Hospital) in Dimapur.
All four students, who are in their early twenties, were residing in a private hostel in Dimapur as they pursued their higher education. The sudden loss has deeply shocked the local community and fellow students. Police officials have launched a thorough investigation into the accident to determine its exact cause. Authorities are examining all possibilities, including road conditions and vehicle status, to prevent such incidents in the future.
The district administration has expressed condolences to the bereaved families and assured support to the injured students during their treatment and recovery.
