Vodafone Idea (Vi) has strengthened its postpaid international roaming offerings by introducing baggage protection in partnership with US-based Blue Ribbon Bags. The new service ensures Vi postpaid customers can claim compensation of ₹19,800 per bag if their luggage is lost or delayed beyond 96 hours. Available for an additional ₹99, the service aims to enhance travel security for Indian customers. With global travel rising post-pandemic, baggage mishandling remains a major concern. A 2024 SITA report indicated that over 36 million bags were mishandled worldwide. Vi’s initiative provides travelers with a financial safeguard, reinforcing its commitment to customer-centric innovations beyond connectivity.
Vi postpaid users can activate baggage protection while purchasing an international roaming pack. To avail of the benefit, customers must register with Blue Ribbon Bags before travel and report any baggage issues within 24 hours of landing. If baggage is not recovered within four days, compensation is processed with no further queries.
