A young police officer allegedly committed suicide while on duty at the home of the Deputy Commissioner of the Dima Hasao district, resulting in a tragic event. According to reports, the officer, Anavesh Nunisa (36), shot himself with his service rifle at approximately 12:15 AM on Tuesday night. Nunisa was a member of the 5th Assam Police Battalion and lived in Digri village, which is under the jurisdiction of the Haflong police station. Family members reported that the officer had not displayed any symptoms of distress right away. His wife remembered that Nunisa had left their son off at school earlier on Tuesday, picked him up later, and even called him at approximately 11 p.m.
The family received the heartbreaking news of his passing about an hour later. After the tragedy, he was sent to Haflong Civil Hospital right away, but despite their best efforts, the intensive care unit proclaimed him dead. It should be noted that Nunisa was a former member of the militant group DHD (Jewel faction), which had surrendered and reintegrated into society. He was assigned to the Assam Police after he recovered. Police gave his mortal remains to his family on Wednesday following a post-mortem examination at Haflong Civil Hospital.
