Zarina Laskar’s STYLEYA expands footprint after winning ‘Excellence in Fashion Entrepreneurship’ at FEMINA ACHIEVERS’ AWARDS 2025

The North-East fashion market is witnessing a surge in demand for handcrafted and fusion fashion, with STYLEYA emerging as a key player. Founded by Zarina Laskar, the brand’s growing influence was further solidified as she received the “Excellence in Fashion Entrepreneurship” award at the FEMINA ACHIEVERS’ AWARDS 2025 NORTHEAST at TajVivanta, Guwahati, on March 2.

Since its inception in 2017, STYLEYA has redefined fashion by incorporating Assam’s finest handwoven fabrics, crafted by local artisans and women weavers. The brand has gained national and international traction, featuring in East India Fashion Week and expanding its collection to include Kaftans, Burkhas, Designer Kurtis, Lehengas, and a new men’s line, with plans to enter the children’s wear segment.

“Our journey started with a dream to create distinct designer clothing using indigenous fabrics, and today, our work is appreciated on larger platforms. This award is a testament to the hard work and passion we put into STYLEYA,” said Zarina Laskar upon receiving the award. “Our mission goes beyond fashion – we aim to empower local artisans, particularly the talented women weavers of Assam, by bringing their craftsmanship to a global audience. It fills me with immense pride to see our work transcend boundaries and be recognized at such a prestigious platform.”

In Guwahati, STYLEYA’s handcrafted apparel aligns with the rising consumer shift towards sustainable and culturally inspired designs. The city’s growing retail ecosystem, including high-end boutiques and online platforms, is providing a strong growth avenue for indigenous brands like STYLEYA, positioning it as a major contender in the segment. Laskar, who also won Designer of the Year at India Style Fashion Week in Delhi, continues to expand STYLEYA’s footprint, aiming to bring North-Eastern textiles to global fashion markets.
