The 79th General Conference of the Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) was inaugurated on February 3 at the Zuketsa Local Ground, with Nagaland’s Deputy Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang attending as the chief guest. The conference, running until February 5, is organized by the Zuketsa Students’ Union under the theme “Nurturing identity through knowledge and culture.” The opening included a dedicatory prayer by Rev. Dr. Chekrovei Cho-o, along with the unveiling of a monolith, and featured guest of honour Küdecho Khamo, Advisor for Civil Administration Works Division and Taxes.
In his address, Zeliang emphasized the importance of students in maintaining cultural identity and urged them to balance education and development, promoting unity, discipline, and a sense of responsibility in nation-building. The session, chaired by Mutsivoyi Kotso, Tribunal General of CSU, also included a presidential address by Pfühulo Sara, the release of a conference magazine, greetings from NSF President Mtseisuding Heraang, exhortations by CPO President Vezühü Keyho, and various cultural presentations. The conference is set to conclude with a valedictory programme on February 5.
