Medanta – The Medicity has highlighted the growing burden of heart-related diseases in India and stressed that nearly 90 per cent of such deaths can be prevented through timely lifestyle changes and awareness. The hospital’s specialists said rising stress, sedentary work culture, unhealthy eating habits and lack of physical activity are increasingly affecting younger people.
Padma Shri awardee Dr. Praveen Chandra said conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity and stress-related heart disorders are now common among younger adults. He stated that regular exercise, balanced diets, avoiding smoking and stress management can significantly reduce cardiovascular risks.
Dr. C Manpa Phom said simple activities such as walking for 45 minutes at least four to five times a week, along with proper sleep and healthy food habits, can help improve long-term heart health.
The hospital also underlined India’s growing strength in advanced cardiac treatment and healthcare technology. Medanta has signed an MoU with the Government of Nagaland for accreditation under the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme and partnered with IDAN to promote public health awareness in the state.
In Kohima, healthcare and wellness services are witnessing increased demand as awareness about lifestyle diseases grows among urban consumers. Hospitals, diagnostic centres and preventive healthcare providers in Kohima are seeing higher interest in regular health screenings, specialised consultations and cardiac wellness services.
Nagaland residents can consult Dr. C Manpa Phom from Dr. Praveen Chandra’s team at Faith Hospital, Dimapur, on May 23, 2026, from 9 am to 1 pm. Medanta has also launched a dedicated North East helpline to assist patients in Assamese, Bengali, Nagamese, English and Hindi.
