Using AI and data analytics, Gurgaon-based Medanta Hospital raises awareness on recent advances in precision oncology

Gurgaon-based Medanta – The Medicity, recognized by Newsweek as India’s Best Private Hospital for six consecutive years, expanded its outreach to Nagaland with a focus on precision oncology using artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics. At an awareness event in Dimapur on September 16, organized with NGO Beyond Cancer and Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR), Dr. Amit Bhargava, Director of Medical Oncology at Medanta, highlighted how advances in genomics and AI are reshaping cancer treatment. “AI-driven platforms can predict treatment responses, identify drug targets, and even design adaptive trials, enabling oncologists to move beyond traditional chemotherapy,” he said. He stressed the importance of early detection and tailored therapies for improved outcomes.

The North East records the country’s highest cancer incidence, with tobacco use remaining a key driver. Following the awareness session, Medanta doctors conducted OPDs to extend specialist consultations. The outreach follows Medanta’s MoU with the Government of Nagaland under the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) and the launch of a health awareness booklet in partnership with IDAN.

The development is expected to spur demand for advanced oncology care, as patients across Assam often travel to metros for specialized treatment. With Medanta’s Northeast helpline (0124-6930090) and outreach programs, accessibility to cutting-edge cancer care is expected to improve, reducing the treatment gap for patients in the region.
