In a major crackdown on illicit activities, the Crime Control Cell (CCC) of GPRN/NSCN has busted an organised sex trafficking racket in and around Dimapur, rescuing two local girls and arresting a non-local man, officials said.
According to the Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP) of GPRN/NSCN’s Kilo (Home) Affairs, Camp Khehoyi, the operation was carried out based on specific and credible intelligence inputs. The arrested accused has been identified as Fazul Haque, a resident of Baragram in Assam, who was presently residing in Dimapur.
During the investigation, it was established that Fazul Haque was allegedly involved in sex trafficking, harbouring victims and facilitating their sexual exploitation. On interrogation, he reportedly confessed that he, along with one Mohit Uddin of 7th Mile, Chümoukedima, had been regularly engaged in trafficking activities.
The MIP further stated that an Alto taxi bearing registration number NL-07T-0770, owned by a person identified as Babul of Singrijan, was repeatedly used to transport victims as part of the flesh trade.
While the investigation was underway, certain individuals reportedly filed a complaint with the Dimapur Police claiming association with the arrested accused and objecting to the seizure of the vehicle. The MIP described the complaint as retaliatory in nature and aimed at obstructing the investigation and downplaying the seriousness of human trafficking offences.
Clarifying its position, the MIP said all actions taken during the interception, rescue and arrest were carried out in accordance with due procedure and were supported by evidence, which would be produced as required. It also cautioned that any attempt to shield traffickers, spread misinformation or undermine anti-crime operations would be dealt with strictly under the Ahza of GPRN/NSCN.
Reaffirming its commitment to combating criminal and anti-social activities, GPRN/NSCN said it would continue to act firmly against those involved in the exploitation of local populations.
Earlier media reports have indicated that most pimps or racketeers operating in Dimapur are non-locals, while the victims are predominantly local girls, some of whom are minors. In a related incident, NSCN (I-M) UT-I personnel had apprehended a 31-year-old non-Naga auto driver on October 14, 2025, for alleged sexual abuse of two local minor girls.
There have also been repeated reports of several nightclubs and discos operating across Dimapur until the early hours, with concerns raised over minors frequenting these establishments and their alleged links to organised flesh trade.
