The Chakhroma Youth Organisation (CYO) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Maova Village Council (VC) chairman, asking him to appear before the leaders of the Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) for clarification regarding the February 13 incident in which several leaders were reportedly attacked. According to the ultimatum, the chairman has been asked to attend the meeting at the CPO Hall in Chümoukedima town on or before February 23, 2026.
In a statement issued through its information and publicity wing, the youth organisation alleged that certain individuals from Maova village were involved in what it described as a planned attack on CPO president and his colleagues. The incident reportedly occurred when the CPO delegation had visited the village to hold a peaceful dialogue. During the confrontation, the delegation members and volunteers were allegedly targeted with catapults, stones, and other projectiles, resulting in injuries to some of the participants.
The CYO has asked the Maova Village Council chairman to appear along with village authorities, including Seiboi Changsan, GB, and individuals whom the organisation believes were involved in the incident. The youth body stated that the purpose of the meeting is to seek clarification, discuss the matter, and work towards an appropriate settlement.
In its communication, the organisation warned that if the village authorities fail to respond within the stipulated period, it may take further decisions as per Angami customary law and previously adopted organisational resolutions. It also stated that the village council leadership would be held accountable for the incident if the required clarification is not provided within the given timeframe.
