Governor Yadav Pushes Welfare Access, Disability Camps at Grassroots

He said such steps would make it easier for persons with disabilities to access government benefits without having to travel long distances. He also stressed the need for coordination with the Health and Family Welfare Department to carry out these camps smoothly.

The proposal came during a presentation by Social Welfare Director Tosheli Zhimomi, who shared updates on various ongoing programmes. These programmes focus on nutrition, child protection, and support for women.Officials also discussed schemes related to senior citizens and persons with disabilities under other central ministries. The functioning of child protection bodies such as Child Welfare Committees and Juvenile Justice Boards was also reviewed. While appreciating the work being done, the Governor said there is a need to improve implementation on the ground. He asked departments to increase awareness among people about available schemes and ensure better coordination so that benefits reach those who need them.

In a separate meeting, the Governor reviewed the state’s preparedness for the monsoon. Officials informed him about possible risks such as flash floods, landslides, and irregular rainfall patterns. Despite these concerns, the state is expected to receive normal to above-normal rainfall this year.Departments presented their preparedness plans, including setting up control rooms, deploying machinery, and identifying vulnerable areas. The Public Works Department said key highways are being closely monitored and alternative routes have been kept ready to maintain connectivity if needed.
