As LPG Network Expands, HPCL Tightens Vigilance to Ensure Safe, Disciplined Distribution

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited has intensified its vigilance and enforcement measures across India as LPG demand continues to rise, with the company delivering 404 lakh LPG cylinders between April 1 and May 2, 2026. The company said 12.3 lakh cylinders were delivered on May 2 alone, reflecting strong nationwide demand and operational capacity. HPCL said it carried out 6,424 inspections across its LPG distribution network between March 14 and May 2. The company also conducted 664 raids, registered 44 FIRs, and seized 4,155 LPG cylinders to prevent diversion and misuse. Action was initiated against 177 distributors, including the suspension of 34 distributors, as part of its zero-tolerance policy against irregularities.

HPCL said 99.5 per cent of LPG bookings are now made online, helping improve real-time tracking and faster delivery. The company also supplied 13,39,039 KL of Motor Spirit and 22,89,489 KL of High-Speed Diesel during the same period.

In Guwahati, fuel dealers and LPG distributors said tighter monitoring and digital tracking systems could help ensure fair cylinder distribution amid rising urban demand. The growing use of smaller 5 kg and 2 kg cylinders among migrant workers, small businesses, and low-income households has increased the need for strict monitoring in the region. HPCL reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a strict, fair, and consumer-first distribution system through continuous inspections and technology-driven monitoring.
