Court Stops Brad Pitt from Getting Angelina Jolie’s Private Emails in Winery Fight

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has made a big decision in the ongoing “War of the Rosé.” He said that Angelina Jolie does not have to give her ex-husband Brad Pitt years of private letters. The decision, which was made on Monday, is a big win for Jolie in the long-running fight over Château Miraval, the French estate and winery that the couple used to own together. Pitt’s lawyers wanted to see 22 specific emails about the sale of Jolie’s stake in 2021 because they thought they were necessary to show that she broke a “mutual consent” agreement. The court, on the other hand, said that Pitt did not meet the burden needed to override Jolie’s claims of attorney-client privilege because the documents contained sensitive legal strategy.

This decision effectively cancels a previous order from December 2025 that would have forced the disclosure. Paul Murphy, Jolie’s lawyer, praised the decision, saying that Pitt’s actions were an intrusive attempt to control his client’s private communications. The motion was denied “without prejudice,” which means that Pitt could bring it up again if new evidence comes to light. However, the ruling is a big setback in his effort to find out Jolie’s “real intentions” behind the sale to the Stoli Group.

As the ex-spouses get closer to ten years of fighting in court since their split in 2016, the focus now turns to a high-stakes trial set for early 2027. Even though they finalized their divorce in late 2024, the bitter fight over their $160 million vineyard keeps getting worse. Jolie’s latest win in court gives her a stronger defense against Pitt’s claims of a “vindictive” sale.
