CFA Institute recently organised its first Finance Industry Network (FIN) Roundtable in Guwahati, bringing together faculty members from leading universities and educational institutions across the Northeast to strengthen collaboration between academia and the finance industry. The event, held on May 7, marked the 13th Professors’ Roundtable hosted by CFA Institute in India and focused on aligning finance education with the evolving needs of the global investment sector. Discussions centred on the globally recognised CFA Program and its practitioner-driven curriculum, particularly its emphasis on ethics, investment analysis, and practical application in finance education.
Faculty members were also introduced to the Investment Foundations Certificate, designed to help undergraduate students and early learners build a strong base in investment concepts. The roundtable further explored skill development, employability, ethical decision-making, and job-ready competencies required in modern finance careers. Saim Fakih, Manager, University Relations – India, CFA Institute, said the initiative reflects the organisation’s commitment to building stronger institutional connections in Assam and helping students develop globally relevant finance skills. Academicians from institutions including IIT Guwahati, Cotton University, Assam Downtown University and Royal Global University participated in the discussions.
In Guwahati, the initiative is expected to strengthen awareness about global finance certifications among students and young professionals in Assam. Education and training experts believe such industry-academia collaborations could improve employability in the region’s growing banking, investment, and financial services sectors while also encouraging institutions in Guwahati to align courses with international finance standards.
