Retro Meets Smart: HMD Unveils Four New Nokia Feature Phones Equipped with a Dedicated AI Button

In a surprising merger of retro hardware and modern software, HMD Global has launched four new Nokia-branded 4G feature phones that challenge the very definition of a “dumbphone.” The new lineup—consisting of the Nokia 200 4G, Nokia 210 4G, Nokia 215 4G 2nd Edition, and Nokia 235 4G 2nd Edition—retains classic candy-bar styling but introduces a dedicated AI assistant button right at the center of the physical D-pad. Powered by Sikey AI, this voice-activated chatbot allows users to bypass tedious multi-layered menus on a small screen. Simply by pressing the button and speaking a command, users can easily make calls, set alarms, turn on the flashlight, or ask basic questions like translating foreign phrases and looking up recipes.

While the inclusion of an AI voice assistant on a minimalist phone has drawn mixed reactions from digital detox enthusiasts, HMD targets the feature at accessibility-minded buyers, seniors, and users in developing markets who prefer simple, hands-free navigation. Beyond the headline AI button, the devices are practical, modern feature phones. They support 4G connectivity, USB-C charging, 3.5mm headphone jacks, expandable microSD storage, and removable 1,450mAh batteries boasting up to 13 days of standby time. They also support modern video calling and group messaging via the built-in Xpress Chat app. However, there is a catch to the phone’s flagship feature: the AI assistant is only free for the first 180 days, after which it transitions to a low-cost annual subscription that ironically requires a separate smartphone to set up.
