Sturdflex Waterproofing Solutions, a brand from the house of Shyam Steel Industries Limited, has launched a flood relief initiative to support 2,000 affected families across Upper Assam amid the ongoing flood situation in the state.
The initiative, undertaken as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility programme, is being carried out in coordination with the National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force and district authorities. The relief programme was flagged off in Guwahati on August 19 by MLA Pradyut Bordoloi.
Ground-level activities have begun in Nimaijan village in Sivasagar district, with relief assistance being extended based on the prevailing situation and identified needs. The programme will cover flood-affected communities across Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat and Golaghat.
Govind Beriwal, Director of Shyam Steel Industries Limited, said the initiative reflected the responsibility of businesses to stand with communities during times of crisis. GouravBeriwal, also a Director, said the company aimed to build a long-term relationship with Assam that extended beyond its business operations.
In Sivasagar, the initiative comes as flood disruptions continue to affect local communities, livelihoods and economic activity. Sturdflex’s presence and relief engagement in the district could help strengthen awareness of the brand among local stakeholders while contributing to community-level recovery efforts.
Sturdflex entered Assam and the Northeast at the beginning of the current financial year with its portfolio of waterproofing solutions and construction chemicals. The company said its relief effort was intended to complement ongoing government and disaster-response operations.
