Groww accounts for over one-fifth of Assam’s active investor base

Digital investing is gaining momentum in Assam, with Groww accounting for more than 20 per cent of the state’s active investor base on the NSE as of June 2026, according to the investment platform. The data indicates that one in every five active investors in Assam invests through Groww.

The trend comes as rising smartphone adoption, expanding internet access and greater financial awareness drive participation in capital markets across the Northeast. Groww users account for nearly 24 per cent of the NSE investor base of 36.31 lakh across the eight northeastern states. Sikkim recorded the highest Groww share at 41 per cent, followed by Arunachal Pradesh at 40 per cent and Tripura at 37 per cent.

In Assam, around 25 per cent of Groww investors are below 25 years, while close to 30 per cent are aged between 25 and 30. Investors above 30 account for 45 per cent, while women constitute around 20 per cent of the platform’s investor base in the state.

In Guwahati, the numbers underline the growing role of digital platforms in widening retail participation, particularly among younger investors, while providing easier access to market-linked products.
