Godrej Enterprises Group (GEG) has launched ‘Udaan’, an industry-led supplier capability-building initiative in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), aimed at strengthening India’s manufacturing ecosystem by improving the capabilities and competitiveness of MSMEs.
Aligarh is the first location for the initiative, which is planned to be scaled across 10 cities. Developed with the CII TPM Club of India, Udaan will provide participating supplier partners with a structured Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) programme and access to specialist consultants for on-ground implementation.
The programme will focus on improving productivity, eliminating operational losses, enhancing resource efficiency and developing a culture of continuous improvement. Quarterly reviews, periodic assessments and factory audits by CII representatives and industry experts will track progress, while successful participants will receive recognition from GEG and CII.
In Guwahati, the initiative highlights the potential for structured supplier-development programmes to help MSMEs improve manufacturing efficiency, quality and competitiveness, particularly as businesses across Assam seek stronger integration with organised supply chains.
GEG said it is the first company in the hardware industry and among a select few organisations in India to extend a structured TPM excellence programme across its supplier ecosystem.
The participating Aligarh suppliers have been nurtured by GEG for six years, completing its Partnership Competitiveness Programme, ZED Certification and beginning Lean Manufacturing Certification. GEG was also recently recognised by Laghu Udyog Bharati, Aligarh, for its contribution to MSME development.
