Godrej Consumer Products invests Rs 250 crore to expand manufacturing footprint in Indonesia

Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) has expanded its manufacturing footprint in Indonesia with the inauguration of the first phase of a new facility at the Kendal Special Economic Zone, backed by an IDR 500 billion (approximately Rs 250 crore) investment.

Godrej Consumer Products Indonesia (GCPI), a subsidiary of GCPL, has been present in Indonesia since 2010 and has grown 4.5 times since then. Its brands, including HIT, Stella, Mitu and NYU, now reach around one in four Indonesian households.

The first phase of the Kendal facility spans 2.5 hectares of the company’s 5.5-hectare site and is dedicated to household insecticides, strengthening domestic supply and export capabilities. GCPL said the investment will increase home and personal care category capacity by approximately 15%, against current capacity utilisation of 75-80%.

Built in just over a year, the technology- and data-enabled facility is designed to improve operational visibility, accelerate decision-making and support consumer-led innovation. GCPL also aims to build local capabilities, with women expected to comprise 50% of the workforce, alongside opportunities for persons with disabilities.

In Guwahati, the expansion underscores the importance of efficient manufacturing and regional supply chains in the fast-growing consumer goods sector. Greater manufacturing capacity and export-oriented operations could support more resilient product availability across Asian markets, including India’s Northeast.

The company said responsible manufacturing, resource efficiency, energy visibility, biodiversity and waste management have also been incorporated into the facility.
