Montra Electric, the commercial electric vehicle brand of the Murugappa Group, has expanded its Northeast India network with a new electric three-wheeler dealership at Betkuchi in Guwahati. The facility, operated by SK GROUP X (OPC) PVT. LTD., will provide sales, servicing and spare parts support for the company’s Super Auto passenger vehicle and Super Cargo electric carrier.
The inauguration was attended by Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director of Montra Electric, and Sapan Kashyap, Managing Director of SK GROUP X (OPC) PVT. LTD., along with customers, dealer partners and other mobility sector stakeholders. Customer vehicle deliveries followed the launch.
Assam’s electric mobility market recorded 5,196 EV registrations in September 2026, including 5,136 electric three-wheelers, indicating the segment’s growing importance in the state’s transport transition. Montra Electric said it had established 11 outlets and 35 service facilities across Northeast India over the past two years.
In Guwahati, the new dealership comes amid rising demand for passenger transport and last-mile delivery solutions. As the region’s principal commercial gateway, the city offers opportunities for electric three-wheelers serving commuters, small businesses and logistics operators. Local sales and service support could also help address customers’ ownership and maintenance requirements.
Gupta identified Assam as a key growth market, while Kashyap highlighted Guwahati’s expanding mobility needs. Montra Electric operates across four verticals: electric three-wheelers, small commercial vehicles, tractors, and medium and heavy commercial vehicles.
