Former Australian cricketer Michael Hussey has taken up a new responsibility with the national team after stepping away from his role as batting coach of Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He has been appointed as a coaching consultant for Australia’s upcoming major cricket assignments, including the Ashes 2027 and the ODI World Cup 2027.
Hussey will also contribute to Australia’s preparations for the T20 events scheduled over the next few years. His responsibilities include serving as a T20 advisor for the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028 and the T20 World Cup 2028.
The appointment brings Hussey back into Australia’s coaching setup, where he has previously worked alongside the support staff led by head coach Andrew McDonald. His earlier involvement came through short-term assignments, allowing him to contribute to the team’s preparations on specific occasions.
His latest role is expected to involve supporting Australia’s coaching structure across different formats and major international competitions. The experience he gained through his playing career and coaching responsibilities will be part of his contribution to the national setup.
Hussey’s departure from CSK marks a change in his coaching commitments, with his attention now shifting towards Australia’s international cricket schedule. His involvement across Test, ODI and T20 assignments also reflects the wide range of responsibilities associated with the new position.
