Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has urged people to take necessary precautions while purchasing food products during the Diwali festival. His advice aims to protect consumers from unsafe and poor-quality food items during the festive season.
He asked buyers to carefully check the manufacturing and expiry dates before purchasing any food product. Consumers should also verify the licence of the food business operator and ensure that the FSSAI licence number is mentioned on the bill.
Mundhe also stressed the importance of checking Diwali gift hampers. Buyers should examine the quality, labels and seals of all food items packed inside them before making a purchase.
He further advised people to purchase sweets in small quantities and consume them within two to three days. This will help consumers avoid keeping sweets for longer periods.
During Diwali, the demand for sweets and gift hampers increases significantly. Therefore, checking product details and food quality is important.
Following these simple precautions can help people make safer food choices and celebrate Diwali with greater care.
