The Supreme Court of India has issued notices to the Chief Secretary of Assam and the Goalpara district authorities in a civil contempt petition filed by people affected by the eviction drive at Hasila Beel Village. The petitioners, registered voters and holding PAN and Aadhaar cards, claim that the eviction was illegal and without proper notice.
