Didom Daimari, a grassroots conservationist and member of Assam-based environmental organisation Aaranyak, has been invited to the prestigious ‘At Home’ reception hosted by the President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Independence Day.
Daimari, who hails from Angarajuli village near Bhairabkunda in Udalguri district, currently serves as a Field Coordinator with Aaranyak. He has more than a decade of experience in community-based conservation and has worked closely with the Dhansiri Forest Division under the Bodoland Territorial Council Forest Department.
He is also an active member of the Dhansiri–Sikaridanga Joint Forest Management Committee (JFMC) and has supported several organisations and individuals in grassroots conservation efforts.
Over the years, Daimari has contributed to wildlife conservation, habitat restoration, mitigation of human-elephant conflict, community mobilisation, environmental education, nature guiding and promotion of eco-tourism.
His sustained work has earned him recognition as a prominent community conservation champion in the Bhairabkunda landscape.
Daimari is also a BTC Tourism- and Assam Tourism-certified eco-tourism guide and serves as president of the Bhairabkunda Eco-Tourism and Conservation Society.
He additionally heads the Angarajuli Homestay Committee, which promotes responsible nature-based tourism while highlighting the region’s biodiversity and generating sustainable livelihood opportunities for local communities.
His invitation to the President’s ‘At Home’ reception is being seen as a recognition of his longstanding contribution to conservation and the important role played by grassroots workers in protecting forests, restoring wildlife habitats and supporting sustainable livelihoods.
Aaranyak congratulated Daimari on the honour, describing it as a proud moment for the organisation, the Dhansiri Forest Division, Dhansiri–Sikaridanga JFMC, Bhairabkunda Eco-Tourism and Conservation Society and the people of Angarajuli village.
