As National Nutrition Month kicks off under the theme “Food Connects Us Together,” health experts are urging citizens to prioritize daily nutrition, emphasizing nutrient-dense foods like almonds, fruits, and whole grains. California almonds, rich in 15 essential nutrients including vitamin E, magnesium, zinc, and iron, are highlighted as an easy way to fuel mornings and support overall health.
The Indian Council of Medical Research-National Institute of Nutrition (ICMR-NIN) recommends daily nut consumption, citing benefits for heart health, weight management, and blood sugar control. Bollywood actress Soha Ali Khan, a fitness advocate, shared her habit of starting the day with almonds, emphasizing their role in curbing hunger and maintaining energy. Experts including Ritika Samaddar of Max Healthcare and nutrition consultant Sheela Krishnaswamy stressed that incorporating almonds can counter rising lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity. Ayurveda specialist Madhumita Krishnan added that almonds, considered a sattvic food, help nourish the skin and support overall vitality.
Rretailers report increasing consumer interest in almonds, with demand surging across supermarkets and health stores. Local vendors noted that families are actively including almonds in breakfast routines, reflecting growing awareness of healthy eating practices in the city. National Nutrition Month reinforces the importance of mindful dietary choices, encouraging individuals to embrace wholesome foods like almonds to stay energized and healthy.
