Mriganka Deo Barman from Assam has been entrusted with the important responsibility of national secretary of the BJP as the party on Monday announced its new team of national office-bearers, seven months after appointing Nitin Nabin as the 12th national president.
In another appointment having significance for the Northeastern region, Dr. Sambit Patra has been named as the North-East coordinator, while Rajiv Babbar has been appointed as the co-coordinator.
Barman is a state BJP old-timer who had held several key posts in the party organisation in Assam. He is a former general secretary of the BJP Assam Pradesh and previously served as state president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Assam Pradesh.
He has also been associated with the sports bodies and currently serves as the vice president of Assam Olympic Association. He is a former president of Assam Table Tennis Association and also heads the Assam Youth Forum.
The Assam Pradesh BJP has extended its heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the national leadership for Barman’s appointment.
The party also conveyed its warm greetings and congratulations to Barman and wished him success in his new role. BJP state president Dilip Saikia expressed confidence that his appointment will further strengthen the organisational strength and presence of Assam BJP at the national level.
