Bajaj General Insurance Limited has appointed Deepak Reddy as CEO designate, effective January 1, 2027, with the Board of Directors approving his appointment. Subject to approval from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), he will assume charge as Managing Director and CEO on April 1, 2027. Dr Tapan Singhel will remain at the helm until March 31, 2027, ensuring continuity in leadership and strategy.
The transition follows IRDAI’s maximum continuous tenure limit of 15 years for managing directors, CEOs and whole-time directors. Bajaj General Insurance, formerly Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company Limited, is a material unlisted subsidiary of Bajaj Finserv Limited.
Bajaj Finserv Chairman and Managing Director Sanjiv Bajaj credited Singhel with developing the insurer from a joint venture into a wholly Bajaj-owned company, strengthening its underwriting discipline, innovation and customer focus. Singhel said the company would continue prioritising customer-centric solutions, distribution innovation and improved access to insurance.
Reddy brings over three decades of financial services experience, including 17 years at Bajaj Finserv, where he helped scale businesses and led rural, insurance and gold loan operations at Bajaj Finance. He also served as the Group’s first Head of Human Resources and most recently was CEO of Manappuram Finance. His earlier roles included American Express, Standard Chartered Bank and MIRC Electronics.
In Guwahati, the leadership transition comes amid opportunities to widen insurance penetration among households, small businesses and rural customers across Assam and the Northeast. Reddy’s experience across financial services could support such growth, although no region-specific plans have been announced. The appointment signals a planned succession aimed at sustaining long-term expansion.
