Bihar Man Arrested At New Bongaigaon Railway Station With Pistol And 5 Live Rounds

Amid ongoing security checks at railway stations, a pistol and five live rounds were seized at New Bongaigaon Railway Station. Railway Police have taken a man from Bihar into custody and launched an investigation.

During a routine checking operation on Monday night, the police team led by Sub-Inspector Sanjeev Choudhury noticed a suspicious person loitering in the station premises and began questioning him.

On searching the trolley bag he was carrying, the police recovered a factory-made pistol and five live rounds of 7.65 mm ammunition.

The detained person has been identified as 49-year-old Satish Kumar from Gopalganj district of Bihar. He failed to produce any valid license or required documents for possessing the weapon.

The police have seized the pistol, five live rounds, one trolley bag, one mobile phone, one Aadhaar card and one railway ticket from his possession.

Meanwhile, New Bongaigaon Railway Police have initiated necessary legal action against the arrested person. The investigation is ongoing to ascertain where the weapon was being taken, for what purpose it was being carried, and whether any larger nexus is involved.
