On July 16, in the District Commissioner’s conference room, District Commissioner (DC) Bikram Kairi presided over a preparatory meeting for the 79th Independence Day celebrations in the Dibrugarh district. The DC reviewed departmental responsibilities and asked all officials to guarantee smooth execution of assigned duties in the meeting in order to make the celebration a huge success. In accordance with the official protocols and schedules, he also ordered that the national flag be raised at government buildings, schools, organizations, companies, and even private homes.
Prior to the event, the DC emphasized cleanliness and asked for extensive campaigns throughout the Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation and municipal boards. He also urged similar initiatives to be made in Gaon Panchayat regions in order to foster a patriotic and joyous environment with active community participation. Acting SP Chizal Agarwal, DFO Nand Kumar, Election Officer Pranjil Gogoi, District Council CEO Bipul Kumar Das, Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation Mayor Dr. Saikat Patra, DMC Commissioner Jay Vikas (IAS), and other top officials from other departments attended the meeting.
In the meantime, on July 3, Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) commissioner Dr. M S Lakshmi Priya reinforced the organization’s dedication to community involvement and sanitation by conducting an early morning inspection of cleaning drives throughout several wards under Division 6.
The commissioner examined cleaning activities, spoke with Safai Mitras, and engaged with locals to discuss civic and sanitation-related issues. Senior GMC officials were also present, along with Ward No. 10 councillor Kalpana Das and Ward No. 24 councillor Biju Medhi.
