Devotees Throng Temples in Kohima on Maha Shivratri

Maha Shivaratri was performed with religious fervour and devotion at the Baba Nageshwar Nath Mandir at Dzudza (Jotsoma), along the NH-29 Bypass in Kohima on Sunday. The programme commenced in the afternoon with a large number of devotees gathering to offer prayers and seek blessings of Lord Shiva.
The temple premises witnessed a spiritually uplifting atmosphere as rituals and devotional activities were carried out with reverence. According to religious belief, Maha Shivratri is widely regarded as the sacred day commemorating the divine marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, symbolising harmony, devotion, and spiritual unity. Many devotees observe the day as a mark of this celestial union. Devotees from Kohima and nearby areas participated enthusiastically, reflecting faith, unity, and cultural harmony.
Maha Shivratri also holds spiritual significance as a day of meditation, self-discipline, and inner awakening, and the observance at the temple highlighted the community’s commitment to preserving religious traditions.
