Guwahati emerges as strong academic hub in SOF Olympiads 2025-26

Guwahati’s education sector recorded a significant milestone in the 2025–26 Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) examinations, with students from the city securing top international ranks amid participation from millions of candidates across 72 countries.

More than 42,000 students from Guwahati appeared in the Olympiads this year, underlining the growing demand for competitive academic platforms and skill-based learning in the city’s education market.

Leading the performance chart, Nishanth Chettri of Class 1 from St. Rose School secured International Rank 1 in the International General Knowledge Olympiad (IGKO). Arnab Bhagowati of Modern English School achieved International Rank 1 in the National Science Olympiad (NSO), while Rohit Mahto of Happy Montessori High School secured International Rank 1 in the International Hindi Olympiad (IHO). The three students will receive gold medals.

Ahana Bhuyan of Maharishi Vidya Mandir-IV secured International Rank 3 in NSO and will be awarded a bronze medal. All winners will also receive Certificates of Outstanding Performance and Certificates of Distinction.

SOF Founder and Director Mahabir Singh said the Olympiads continue to encourage critical thinking and analytical skills among students. The results have also highlighted Guwahati’s expanding academic ecosystem, with schools increasingly investing in global-standard competitive learning and talent development initiatives.
