Health Minister has assured comprehensive upgrades to the CHC in Pfutsero

Nagaland’s Health and Family Welfare Minister, P. Paiwang Konyak, has assured comprehensive upgrades to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Pfutsero, in response to the growing number of patients from the town and surrounding villages. The commitment was made during his recent field visit as part of an ongoing statewide inspection of healthcare facilities.

While returning from Phek District Hospital, Minister Paiwang made a scheduled stop at CHC Pfutsero, where he met with medical staff, patients, and local administrators. Deeply moved by the dedication of the healthcare workers operating under significant resource limitations, the minister commended the team for their tireless service. “Despite constraints, the commitment shown by the health staff here is commendable. We must support them with better infrastructure and more human resources,” he said.

The minister acknowledged that the CHC is currently overburdened due to increased patient inflow not only from Pfutsero town but also from neighboring villages spread across the Phek district. To meet this demand, he announced several key initiatives aimed at strengthening the facility’s capacity.

Among the promised upgrades are the appointment of an additional Medical Officer, procurement of an X-ray and ultrasound machine, and the construction of a protective security fence. In addition, the minister confirmed that repair and renovation work will be carried out, including the construction of a new building block to expand clinical and administrative services.

This announcement is part of a broader healthcare initiative that includes upgrades to other key facilities across Nagaland. Just hours earlier, Minister Paiwang had visited the Integrated Ayush Hospital in Razha, Chedema, where he interacted with both patients and healthcare personnel. He also acknowledged the role of Ayush institutions in complementing mainstream healthcare services, especially in remote and underserved areas.
