Indian Institute of Technology Madras has opened admissions for its BS Degree Programmes for the 2026 academic cycle, with May 31 set as the deadline for applications, as the premier institute strengthens its push to expand access to industry-oriented higher education through flexible digital learning models. The programmes, open to anyone who has completed Class 12 with no age restrictions, include BS in Data Science and Applications, BS in Electronic Systems, BS in Management and Data Science, and BS in Aeronautics and Space Technology. IIT Madras said the courses are designed to help learners build future-ready skills in data, technology, business analytics, and emerging sectors.
Unlike traditional engineering admissions, the programmes do not require Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) qualification and instead use a qualifier-based entry process. The courses are primarily delivered online with in-person examinations conducted across India. Prof. Prathap Haridoss, Dean (Academic Courses), IIT Madras, said the programmes provide flexibility for students pursuing other academic or professional paths while accessing IIT-level education.
The institute said students enrolled in BCom, BSc, BBA, or Engineering courses can simultaneously pursue these BS programmes. IIT Madras also offers fee support of up to 75 per cent for eligible economically disadvantaged students. With tens of thousands of learners already enrolled nationwide, the institute said the initiative reflects its vision of democratizing access to world-class education at scale.
