Gurgaon-based Medanta – The Medicity, consistently rated India’s Best Private Hospital by Newsweek, has unveiled an educational video promoting a simple, three-minute self-breast examination aimed at early detection of breast cancer. This move is part of the hospital’s broader “Jaanta Hai Medanta” campaign to boost awareness and preventive healthcare adoption nationwide.
The video, featuring Dr. Kanchan Kaur, Senior Director, Breast Cancer at Medanta, outlines a three-step procedure to be performed monthly, ideally 2–3 days after menstruation. The process involves checking the breast and armpit with light pressure in circular and up-and-down motions while observing for lumps, skin changes, or nipple deformities. “Regular self-exams and screenings can significantly improve survival rates,” Dr. Kaur said, emphasizing that awareness is key to early detection.
Healthcare providers and wellness centers are witnessing an uptick in demand for breast screening services following the campaign. Local clinics report rising inquiries from women seeking preventive check-ups, while pharmacies and diagnostic centers are exploring packages centered on early detection, reflecting strong market interest in proactive healthcare solutions in the region. With breast cancer being the most common cancer among Indian women, Medanta’s initiative not only drives awareness but also signals a growing market for preventive healthcare services across urban centers.
