National Housing Bank meeting in Guwahati paves way for housing finance growth in North-East

The National Housing Bank (NHB) hosted a pivotal meeting on April 17, 2025, with MDs and CEOs of Housing Finance Companies, Small Finance Banks (SFBs), and Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) in Guwahati, aimed at unlocking housing finance potential in the North-East. Themed “Unlocking Potential: Housing Finance as a Catalyst for North-East Development,” the event saw key figures such as Shri Manoj Ayyappan, Joint Secretary, Department of Financial Services, and Shri Kuldip Narayan, Joint Secretary (HFA), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, participate in discussions that focused on the growth prospects for housing finance in Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura.

The meeting also featured a detailed presentation on PMAY 2.0, an Interest Subsidy Scheme, with NHB as the Central Nodal Agency. It discussed challenges and regulatory issues in housing finance, with a special emphasis on increasing financial inclusion in the region. The event included the virtual inauguration of new branches for PNB Housing Finance and Aadhar Housing Finance in Guwahati.
