Norton Motorcycles’ Manx R has won the Red Dot: Best of the Best award in the Cars and Motor cycles category at the 2026 Red Dot Award: Design Concept, marking a major international recognition of the British marque’s design capabilities.
The award, one of the competition’s highest honours, recognises ground breaking design and endorses Norton’s approach to modern motorcycle styling, which emphasises clean surfaces, disciplined proportions and distinctive detailing.
Simon Skinner, Head of Design at Norton Motor cycles, said the recognition belonged to the entire team behind the Manx R. He said the jury had recognised a fully developed motorcycle that customers could see, touch and ride.
The Manx R’s design features a cohesive silhouette formed by its fairing, tank and tail, complemented by exposed mechanical components, premium finishes and carefully integrated details. Its design draws inspiration from fine watch making, with functional elements also serving as visual features.
The motor cycle follows Norton’s four design principles of modernity, integration, drama and connection. Its development was shaped with Professor Gerry Mc Govern OBE, Chief Creative Advisor to Norton Motor cycles, alongside Skinner and the company’s in-house design and engineering teams.
The latest accolade follows the Manx R’s recognition at the 2026 International Design Excellence Awards, strengthening Norton’s positioning as a modern luxury performance brand.
Founded in 1898, Norton is now owned by TVS Motor Company, which acquired the marque in April 2020. The company manufactures motor cycles at its facility in Solihull, West Midlands, combining British heritage with contemporary engineering.
