PM Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Darrang district on September 8

On September 8, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to travel to the Darrang area. Environment and Forest Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary and Darrang-Udalguri MP Dilip Saikia attended a meeting on Monday at the Darrang Deputy Commissioner’s office to review preparations for the seamless administration of his visit. The foundation stones for the Kuruwa-Narengi bridge, a ring road, the projected Darrang Medical College, and other important infrastructure projects will be laid during the prime minister’s visit.

The ultimate location for the event was discussed during the meeting. For this reason, MP Dilip Saikia suggested creating a committee. Together with lawmakers from Darrang and neighboring areas, Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary and MP Dilip Saikia will act as conveners. To decide on a final location, the team will visit the suggested site on June 7. All departments were asked to be ready for the Prime Minister’s visit by the Minister and the MP. Notably, the Kuruwa-Narengi bridge project and the ring road are expected to cost Rs 5,000 crore.

MP Saikia and Minister Patowary directed the district administration to keep a careful eye on the flood situation. The departments in charge of disaster management, water resources, and other related areas were instructed to stay vigilant and make sure that supplies and relief were provided in a timely manner in the event of flooding. Deputy Commissioner Parag Kumar Kakaty, Superintendent of Police Prakash Sonowal, former legislator Gurujyoti Das, Diganta Kalita (Kamalpur), Bhabesh Kalita (Rangiya), Dr. Paramananda Rajbongshi (Sipajhar), and Basanta Das (Mangaldai) were among the legislators who attended the meeting.
