Ready for the Surge: How HPCL Is Gearing Up to Meet Seasonal and Festival LPG Demand Across India

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited has ramped up its nationwide LPG distribution and logistics network to tackle rising seasonal and festival-driven demand, as the state-run energy major moves to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply across the country. The company said it delivered more than 316 lakh LPG cylinders between April 1 and April 25, 2026, backed by an expanded supply chain strategy aimed at managing higher consumption during summer months, festive periods and increased migration to urban centres. HPCL also dispatched over 1,86,241 tankers during the period to maintain steady replenishment across its distribution network.

In a sign of changing consumption patterns, the company supplied more than 6.83 lakh Free Trade LPG cylinders of 5 kg and over 26,000 cylinders of 2 kg, largely catering to migrant workers and temporary households seeking flexible energy solutions. HPCL said its digital ecosystem has emerged as a major operational advantage, with 99.2 per cent of LPG bookings now taking place through digital platforms, enabling real-time demand tracking, quicker deliveries and dynamic route optimisation.

In Guwahati, LPG dealers and distributors said demand typically rises sharply during seasonal and festive cycles, especially among urban households, eateries and migrant populations. Market observers believe HPCL’s strengthened supply chain and faster delivery network could help stabilise cylinder availability across Guwahati and other parts of Assam during peak demand periods. To maintain discipline in the supply chain, HPCL conducted 6,000 inspections between March 14 and April 25, taking action against 162 distributors, including 34 suspensions, while also carrying out 664 raids, registering 44 FIRs and seizing 4,155 LPG cylinders.
