Shri Jayant Chaudhary Flags Off India Contingent for 2026 Taipei Capital Cup WorldSkills Invitational

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary on Sunday flagged off the Indian contingent for the 2026 Taipei Capital Cup WorldSkills Invitational Tournament to be held in Taipei, Taiwan, from May 26 to 28. The five-member Indian team will compete against participants from around 15 countries in the international vocational and technical skills competition, which is being organised as a preparatory event ahead of WorldSkills Shanghai 2026. The competition focuses on promoting global skills development, technical excellence and workforce innovation.

The send-off ceremony was attended by Skill Development Secretary Debashree Mukherjee and National Skill Development Corporation CEO Arunkumar Pillai along with senior ministry officials. Addressing the participants, Chaudhary said such competitions help young professionals sharpen technical capabilities while preparing them for global opportunities. He encouraged the participants to learn from international standards and build global partnerships during the event.

India will participate in five skill categories including Mobile Applications Development, Software Applications Development, Painting and Decorating, Automobile Technology and Digital Construction. The contingent includes gold medal winners from the IndiaSkills National Competition 2025-26 along with wildcard entrants. In Guwahati, Centre’s growing emphasis on vocational training and global skill competitions could create more awareness among students and technical institutes in the Northeast region. Experts believe such international exposure may encourage more youth from Assam and neighbouring states to pursue skill-based careers linked to digital technology, manufacturing and construction sectors.
