The Chief Minister of Assam has inaugurated a sports rehabilitation center in Kokrajhar

Assam’s Chief Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, officially opened the High Performance Sports Training and Rehabilitation Centre in Kokrajhar. This facility is a collaborative effort involving the Department of Sports & Youth Welfare, Assam, CSRAA, Oil India Ltd, Numaligarh Refinery Ltd, and Abhinav Futuristics Pvt. Ltd. Developed at an investment of Rs 25.70 crore, the centre is specifically designed to assist athletes and individuals in recovering from sports-related injuries, enhancing performance, and preventing future injuries.

The centre boasts state-of-the-art technology and is staffed by professionals specializing in sports medicine, physical therapy, and rehabilitation. Among the key features of the rehabilitation centre are injury assessment and diagnosis, personalized rehabilitation programs tailored to individual needs, objectives, and sports-specific requirements, as well as exercise therapy aimed at improving strength, flexibility, range of motion, and functional capability.

This centre is the third of its kind in Assam, joining two other high performance sports training and rehabilitation centres, following the Khel Maharan initiative that has engaged over 23 lakh players throughout Assam. Additionally, tenders have been issued for the construction of a large stadium in Kokrajhar, with a budget of Rs 125 crore, and the foundation stone will be laid shortly after the tendering process concludes.
