The Seventh Session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly came to a formal close on Thursday, September 4, as Speaker Sharingain Longkumer adjourned the proceedings sine die after days of legislative discussions and deliberations. Bringing down the curtain on the session, Speaker Longkumer thanked members of the House for their cooperation in maintaining discipline, decorum, and the dignity of the Assembly. He underlined that constructive dialogue and meaningful debates are the foundations of democracy and urged legislators to continue upholding these values in the sessions to come.
“I express my heartfelt gratitude to all members of this House for their commitment in ensuring smooth proceedings. The essence of democracy lies not only in differing opinions but in respecting those differences with civility and purpose,” the Speaker said in his concluding remarks. He also extended his appreciation to the Chief Secretary and state officials, the Director General of Police and security personnel, whose collective efforts ensured the smooth and secure conduct of the Assembly.
Acknowledging the role of the media, Speaker Longkumer noted that the press had been instrumental in keeping the public informed about the debates, discussions, and decisions of the session. The adjournment sine die—meaning without fixing a date for the next sitting—marks the official end of the session, leaving future meetings to be scheduled as per the state’s legislative calendar.
