UIDAI’s New Aadhaar App Cuts Paperwork, Boosts Data Privacy

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched a new Aadhaar mobile application, marking a major shift toward real-time, consent-driven digital identity verification across sectors. Developed under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the app eliminates the need for physical Aadhaar copies and reduces dependence on OTP-based document sharing.
The upgraded platform introduces dynamic QR-based authentication and privacy-focused, consent-led data sharing, allowing users to control what information is disclosed during verification. The move is expected to streamline identity checks across telecom, banking, fintech, healthcare, hospitality and government services.

Prudent Technologies played a key role in enabling enterprise-scale integration for the rollout. The company supported secure, API-driven connectivity between the Aadhaar app ecosystem and service providers, ensuring high transaction capacity, compliance with UIDAI protocols, and real-time as well as offline verification capabilities.
Industry experts say the new framework will reduce document handling costs, minimise cybersecurity risks linked to storing Aadhaar copies, and accelerate customer onboarding. As data privacy norms tighten globally, India’s updated Aadhaar ecosystem reinforces its digital public infrastructure model, combining scale with enhanced privacy safeguards.
The rollout signals a broader push toward secure, privacy-by-design digital identity systems in India.
