Vodafone Idea (Vi) has announced the launch of its prepaid family plan, a new proposition that the company describes as India’s first, enabling prepaid customers to share mobile data with family members across the country through the Vi app.
The initiative aims to bring greater flexibility to prepaid connectivity by allowing active Vi subscribers to create family groups of up to four members, comprising one primary member and up to three secondary members. Each member retains their individual prepaid plan and validity while gaining the ability to share 500 MB of data at a time with another family member who needs additional data.
Vi said every family member would receive guaranteed discounts of up to 10% on every recharge made through the Vi app. Customers can create family groups across telecom circles, add eligible members and access shared connectivity, family management features and exclusive rewards.
Avneesh Khosla, chief marketing officer of Vi, said the launch challenges conventional prepaid offerings by giving customers greater flexibility in how they use data. He added that the proposition reflects the company’s commitment to making prepaid services more relevant to everyday life and helping families stay connected wherever they are.
The launch is supported by a new campaign featuring Shah Rukh Khan, showcasing family members living in different cities while remaining connected through Vi. The campaign brings the brand’s “Vi Pe Sab Hain VIP” promise to life.
The announcement reinforces Vi’s focus on inclusive connectivity, combining data sharing, recharge savings and family-oriented benefits in a single proposition.
