The Combined Annual Training Camp of the Dhubri-based 7 Assam Battalion of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) has been underway since June 5 at Girijananda Chowdhury University in Azara, located on the western outskirts of Guwahati. In the ten-day Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC), 400 junior and senior division boy and girl cadets from various educational institutions across the state under the battalion are participating.
The camp was inaugurated on June 5 by Lt. Col. P.G. Naidu, Officiating Commanding Officer of 7 Assam NCC Battalion. At the camp, cadets are being trained in physical exercise, military training, parade, drill, tactics to defeat the enemy in battle, personality development, skill development, ways to stay mentally strong, and methods to get recruitment or commission in the armed forces, including the Army.
Meanwhile, a special selection process is underway at the camp for interested cadets who wish to participate in the upcoming Inter-Directorate Shooting Competition. Inaugurating the camp, Lt. Col. P.G. Naidu addressed the cadets, highlighting the core aims and objectives of NCC and emphasizing the importance of each cadet becoming a patriotic and responsible citizen.
Additionally, in the daily evening cultural programmes held at the camp, cadets have been presenting diverse cultural performances including dance and songs. Meanwhile, Dr. Dipankar Saha, Registrar of Girijananda Chowdhury University, stated that the university authorities have extended all forms of support for the smooth conduct of the camp, including accommodation, power supply, and medical facilities.
