The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has appealed to the Nagaland government to facilitate the safe return of Naga students and youths stranded in Nepal amid the ongoing political crisis there. In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of Nagaland, NSF President Mteisuding and General Secretary Kenilo Kent expressed deep concern for students and young professionals who had traveled to Nepal for academic and career pursuits but are now facing uncertainty and distress due to the country’s volatile situation.
The Federation urged the state government to coordinate urgently with the Ministry of External Affairs and other relevant agencies to provide travel support, necessary documentation, and transit assistance. Additionally, NSF requested logistical arrangements and immediate aid for the students upon their arrival in Nagaland. “Timely intervention by the Government of Nagaland will bring immense relief to the stranded individuals as well as their anxious families,” the letter noted.
The NSF emphasized its commitment to the welfare of Naga students globally and called for prompt action on this humanitarian matter, highlighting the urgent need to safeguard the well-being of students far from home during times of political instability. The state government has yet to announce specific measures, but officials have indicated that the matter is being reviewed for possible intervention. The appeal by NSF underscores the growing concern among communities for citizens affected by international crises and the role of state authorities in ensuring their safe return.
