Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Silchar on March 14, and the Cachar district administration has begun large-scale preparations for the high-profile programme. Senior officials of the Assam government visited Silchar on Tuesday to review the arrangements. The team included Chief Secretary Dr. Ravi Kota, Director General of Police Harmeet Singh, Minister Kaushik Rai and Minister Krishnendu Paul. They inspected the proposed venue at Ramnagar Bypass, where the Prime Minister will address a public meeting.
During the inspection, officials reviewed security arrangements, traffic plans and the readiness of basic infrastructure in and around the venue. Special focus was given to crowd management and smooth movement of vehicles on the day of the visit.Later in the day, a high-level meeting was held at the office of the Cachar District Commissioner. The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, the DGP, the two ministers, the District Commissioner, the Superintendent of Police and senior officers from different departments. Officials discussed security deployment, traffic regulation, emergency response systems and coordination among departments.
According to officials, the Prime Minister will address a large public gathering at Ramnagar Bypass. During his visit, he is also expected to lay the foundation stone for the Guwahati-Barapani-Panchgram National Highway expressway project and the proposed Silchar flyover.
