India strengthens Africa partnership as Jayant Chaudhary attends Uganda Presidential swearing-in

India reaffirmed its growing strategic and educational partnership with Africa as Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary represented the country at the swearing-in ceremony of Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who assumed office for a seventh term.During the visit, Chaudhary conveyed greetings and a message of goodwill from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and highlighted the importance of political stability and continuity for economic growth and development. He reiterated India’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Uganda and the African continent across sectors including education, skill development and institutional capacity building.

A major highlight of the visit was Chaudhary’s tour of the Uganda campus of National Forensic Sciences University in Jinja, India’s first overseas public academic campus, which enrolled its inaugural batch in October 2025. He said the campus is expected to emerge as a hub for multidisciplinary forensic sciences, research and training, symbolising growing India-Africa collaboration. In Kampala, the minister also interacted with members of the Indian diaspora, underlining strong people-to-people and business ties between the two nations.

The expanding India-Africa engagement could create fresh opportunities for Guwahati, particularly in education services, skill training, student exchange programmes and consultancy sectors. Industry observers believe institutions and entrepreneurs in Assam may benefit from rising international partnerships and growing African demand for Indian expertise in technical education and workforce development.
