A new turn has emerged in the case of the mysterious death of Assam’s beloved icon Zubeen Garg. Srijani Bhaswa Mahanta, daughter of former Director General of Police (DGP) of Assam Police, will appear in the witness box as one of the most crucial witnesses in this case. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has included her as a formal witness in the case.
Srijani’s name came into discussion in this case after she leaked information about a private conversation of Shyamkanu Mahanta on social media. According to the investigation team, as shared by Srijani on social media, during a family discussion, Shyamkanu Mahanta had made a highly controversial remark about Zubeen Garg. As mentioned in the said post, Shyamkanu Mahanta had said – “Leave it, what do I care? Zubeen is just a product for me.”
Investigating officers have already attached this social media post by Srijani to the chargesheet of the case. The matter was also raised in the Gauhati High Court. While opposing the bail plea of Shyamkanu Mahanta, the state’s Advocate General presented arguments in court highlighting this sensational remark.
Srijani Bhaswa Mahanta is scheduled to appear for her testimony in the lower court towards the end of this month. Her testimony will be examined in court regarding the controversial social media post and under what circumstances this conversation took place.
