Vedanta-presented Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) is set to mark its 20th edition from January 14 to 18, 2027, highlighting two decades of growth as a major platform for literature, ideas and cultural exchange. Supported by the Government of Rajasthan, the festival has hosted more than 8,000 writers, speakers and artists, attracted over five million on-ground visitors and reached an estimated audience of more than one billion through digital, broadcast and media networks.
The festival has expanded from Jaipur into an international network with more than 15 editions across the US, UK, Canada, Spain, Australia, the Middle East, Maldives and Ireland. It has also inspired more than 300 literary gatherings and festivals globally. The 2027 edition will be themed “20 Years of Ideas. Stories. Conversations.” and will feature discussions spanning literature, politics, science, economics, philosophy, arts, health, migration and the environment. Its Bhasha Swarmala series will spotlight India’s linguistic diversity, with the anniversary announcement released across all 22 official Indian languages.
In Guwahati, JLF’s focus on multilingual storytelling and regional literary voices is significant as Assam and the wider Northeast have a strong tradition of indigenous languages, literature and cultural expression. The festival’s growing emphasis on linguistic diversity could create greater visibility for regional writers and literary traditions.
The festival enters its third decade with a continued focus on accessibility, inclusion and wider cultural participation.
